Ladybird, a canine of 9 years, was discovered tied up to a restroom at Destrehan’s Splash Park in Louisiana. An accompanying note stated, “Please treat my dog kindly – I got stuck without a car. I’ll be back soon. Please give my dog some water. I’ll return in the morning.”
The animal control team discovered that the message was confusing, indicating that the black Labrador had been left behind. As a result, the dog was taken to St. Charles Parish Animal Shelter for care and support.
However, it turned out that the owner was sincere since he made it a point to contact the shelter the following day to inquire about Ladybird. He then visited the shelter to provide an explanation for why he had to part ways with his beloved dog. According to him, he had rescued Ladybird when she was only six weeks old. Unfortunately, his circumstances took a turn for the worse which led to him becoming homeless and losing his means of transportation.
He mentioned his intention to move to North Carolina with Ladybird and mentioned that his family would be able to assist him. The owner’s concern for the dog’s well-being prompted rescuers to step in and organize a move to North Carolina with the help of organizations like “Wings Of Rescue”, “GreaterGood”, and “Turning Rescues into Pets”.
