Elliot and Nathanial Green visited the shelter with the intention of finding a kitten, but their plans took an unexpected turn when a small blind kitty chose them instead.
Elliot Green and his friend Nathanial made a trip to the Lynchburg Humane Society in Virginia to attend an adoption event. Their hearts were set on adopting a Siamese kitten, but all of them had already found homes or were on hold. Luckily, a kind woman at the shelter suggested Merlin as a potential match for them.
Merlin, a small kitten who was brought to the shelter in need of care and a forever home, was born mostly blind and was very tiny in size. Despite his challenges, Elliot and Nathanial instantly knew that he was the perfect addition to their family.
When Elliot and his family first laid eyes on Merlin at the shelter, they were immediately drawn to the small ball of fur in the medical wing. Even though Merlin was blind, he sensed their presence and greeted Elliot with affectionate sniffs before nestling into his arms and purring contentedly. “As soon as Merlin cuddled up to me, I knew he was the one,” Elliot shared with Love Meow. “He was so eager to be loved and adopted.” After filling out the necessary paperwork, Merlin officially became a part of their family, and the rest, as they say, is history.
When Merlin arrived home for the first time, Elliot noticed how easily he adapted to his surroundings. “Right from the start, he was exploring every nook and cranny, familiarizing himself with his new territory.” The cat relied on his keen senses of touch, smell, and hearing to confidently move around, essentially becoming the master of his domain.
Elliot Green shared with Love Meow how impressed he is with his cat Merlin and how he never seems to have any issues with his surroundings. Merlin has a habit of reaching out with his paw to feel his way around a new environment, but once he’s familiar with it, he remembers every detail perfectly. Elliot thinks of Merlin as the ideal little parrot kitty!
