An adorable kitten sporting a mischievous grin finally emerged from his shell, shining brightly now that he no longer felt the need to conceal himself.
Uno the little kitty and Hagrid the feline
Jen, known as @pokeypotpie on social media, is a dedicated foster parent for City Dogs and City Kitties Rescue based in Washington DC. When she received a call about a kitten with a damaged eye at a local shelter, she didn’t hesitate to step in and help.
City Kitties Rescue quickly agreed to take in the injured kitten, and Jen rushed to pick him up and take him to an emergency vet. The vet had to remove the ruptured cornea, leaving the kitten with just one eye. Despite this setback, the future was looking much brighter for the little one.
As Uno slowly adjusted to indoor life, Jen was there every step of the way, providing the love and care he needed to thrive.
Jen, also known as @pokeypotpie on social media, welcomed a tiny six-week-old kitten named Uno into their home. Weighing a mere 1.5 pounds, Uno was feeling anxious and in need of comfort after undergoing surgery. Jen’s husband, Ian, stepped in to provide some much-needed cuddles and reassurance to the scared kitten, spending quality time together to make Uno feel safe and loved.
Jen, also known as @pokeypotpie on social media, shared the story of Uno’s journey from a timid “pirate” to a confident household ruler. It took a few weeks for Uno to warm up to humans, but Jen’s efforts of carrying him around in her sweatshirt helped him acclimate to being near people. Despite initially hiding in odd places, Uno now confidently reigns over the household, showcasing his amazing transformation.
Jen’s cat Uno began to enjoy the comforts of indoor living and being spoiled every day. He was thrilled to have regular meals, a comfy sleeping spot, and loving foster parents to give him belly rubs. When it was time for him to meet the other cats in the household, Uno was a little hesitant as he explored new areas. Jen helped him get used to the house’s open spaces by carrying him around like a chauffeur.

Uno built up the courage to explore the various rooms, eventually peeking his head out to observe the other cats and their playful behaviors from the comfort of his cozy pouch. Hagrid, a seasoned resident cat, took Uno under his paw and became his mentor. He guided Uno, instilling bravery and sharing valuable cat wisdom for a fulfilling feline life ahead.
Jen @pokeypotpie shared that Uno had to undergo a second surgery a few weeks later to address some eye issues related to the initial incision. The surgeon was thorough in ensuring that every bit was removed to prevent any potential infections.
As a result of the surgery, Uno now sports an endearing little ‘sneer’ as his skin is pulled tight, causing his upper lip to lift upwards. While this ‘sneer’ is expected to lessen over time as the skin adjusts, for now, it adds to Uno’s cuteness and gives him a mischievous appearance.
Jen posted on her Twitter account named @pokeypotpie that while Uno was recuperating, the cat duo Hagrid and Pokey extended an invitation for Uno to snuggle with them. Uno confidently strutted in and lay down between them, even with his cone on. They showered him with affectionate kisses before settling in for a cozy nap altogether.
Uno jumped into the cozy cuddle puddle with Hagrid and Pokey, sharing some love and warmth. Jen, known as @pokeypotpie, shared an update on Uno’s progress in his foster home. Despite his past struggles with his eye, Uno has healed beautifully and is thriving. His vibrant personality shines through, and he’s managing his asthma well with an inhaler. Uno’s zest for life is evident as he zooms around the house and surprises everyone with his playful energy. Nothing can stop Uno as he brings joy and laughter wherever he goes.
Jen @pokeypotpie shared how Uno loves playing with his foster brother Hagrid and has formed a strong bond with a pair of new foster kittens. Uno is full of energy, always up for a playful romp, and as silly as can be – not to mention incredibly cute!
